Full Stack Software Engineer (Fleet Platform and Operations Tooling)

Posted Updated
Discussion
  • We’re looking for a Fullstack Software Engineer to join the Fleet Platform & Operations Tooling team. You’ll build the internal tools and platform systems that Nuro’s operations, engineering, and partner teams rely on to manage, monitor, and maintain our autonomous vehicle fleet
  • This is hands-on product engineering work at the intersection of fleet operations and software infrastructure. You’ll own features end-to-end — from building responsive frontends that surface real-time vehicle and fleet data, to designing backend services that integrate with onboard systems, cloud infrastructure, and partner APIs
  • The systems you build will directly impact how reliably and efficiently Nuro operates vehicles on public roads
  • You’ll report to the Technical Lead Manager for On-Road Experience
  • Design, build, and ship full-stack applications using React, TypeScript, and modern web development practices
  • Develop backend services and APIs that integrate with vehicle systems, cloud infrastructure, and external partner platforms
  • Build tools that enable fleet monitoring, vehicle health tracking, maintenance workflows, and operational decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with Product, UX, Operations, and partner integration teams to define requirements and deliver user-facing products
  • Own features end-to-end: scoping, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration based on user feedback
  • Contribute to frontend architecture decisions, component libraries, and shared platform patterns used across the org
  • Improve system reliability through testing, monitoring, alerting, and production support practices

Benefits

  • Free Caltrain pass and commuter benefits
  • Company stock options
  • Work from home opportunities
  • Health insurance
  • 3+ years of professional experience in full-stack software development
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS)
  • Solid understanding of web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, browser APIs, and modern frontend tooling
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript for building production web applications
  • Ability to work across the stack
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful or gRPC APIs
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, cross-functional mindset
  • Familiarity with real-time data systems: WebSockets, Pub/Sub, streaming pipelines
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience with Protocol Buffers and gRPC
  • Background in the autonomous vehicle, robotics, logistics, or automotive industry
  • Interest in frontend platform work: design systems, shared component libraries, and developer tooling
  • Experience working with partner or third-party integrations at scale
