  • Required Experience: Hands-on administration of both GitHub and GitLab in an enterprise environment

About This Opportunity

A Fortune 500 insurance company is consolidating its code management tools, moving GitLab workflows and DevOps scripts into GitHub. You'll keep both platforms running smoothly during the transition, manage users and access, and help build out GitHub so the team can work in one place. This is a hands-on, independent role on a small, highly technical DevOps team.

Responsibilities

  • Administer GitHub and GitLab: provision and maintain repositories
  • Handle requests to create, remove, and update users and permissions
  • Manage and govern branches, and keep DevOps practices clean and consistent
  • Help replicate GitLab workflows and DevOps scripts in GitHub
  • Uphold code management standards across teams
  • Flag issues early and keep the DevOps lead informed

Required Qualifications

  • Must be fully authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • Prior hands-on experience administering both GitHub and GitLab
  • Strong understanding of code management systems, branching, and access control
  • Enough coding knowledge to read and understand enterprise DevOps scripts and code reviews (this is not a developer role)
  • Self-starter who works independently and takes ownership of their work
  • Able to work East Coast business hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience migrating workflows from GitLab to GitHub
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash)
  • Experience in large, regulated organizations (insurance, financial services)
