Business hour We are open from Monday to Friday 8.30h to 17h. Location De Bosrand, Ede ECTS 1.5 The aim of this course is to provide participants with skills to assist them in the analysis of animal movement data including working with online data repositories, working with different sampling intervals, data exploration, visualization, annotating track data with environmental data and analysis of movement data. The course is also a great opportunity to develop your research network in the field of movement ecology. The course content is relevant for participants studying movement in a broad range of taxa and environments, however there is an emphasis on GPS tracking data. Participants will learn about technical considerations for different study systems and research questions. Bringing your own data is highly recommended so that you can practice the analyses using your own data (when usable) to bring your research a step further. There will also be suitable data available for participants without their own dataset. The course will combine several guest lectures from international experts in the field of animal movement ecology while focusing primarily on hands-on computer work. During the course data exploration and analysis will be conducted in R using a range of packages and tailored exercises. Course participants are expected to be familiar with R before the beginning of the course. The course is aimed at PhD candidates, postdocs, and other academics, but can also be useful for biologists working with tracking data in non-academic institutes. The course will combine hands-on analysis of animal tracking data in R with two guest lectures per day from experts in the field of animal movement ecology. Preliminary programme: Start: Monday 2 November at 10:00 End: Friday 6 November at 15:00 Day 1 - data exploration: get to know your data Day 2 - Space use analysis Day 3 - habitat use and step selection functions Day 4 - Be...
