Compensation: $120k – $180k • No equity

Team: Power Systems ; Engineering | Location: Remote / USA / San Francisco | Type: Full-time | Reports to: Founder; CEO

About us We are an early-stage, founder-led grid-technology company building AI software that helps electricity utilities study, approve and connect large new loads, such as 100–500 MW data centres, in weeks instead of months. Our two core products are capacity mapping, which shows where spare grid capacity exists for new large loads, and flexible-load interconnection, which lets large consumers adjust their demand when the grid is stressed so they can be connected sooner. Our software is designed to plug into leading utility grid-management platforms with in-country hosting. We will serve utilities in the USA and worldwide, and we are building our first core team. The role You will be the technical authority on grid engineering. You will define how our software models the network, validate every result the AI produces, and give utilities confidence that our outputs match the rigour of a formal interconnection study. What you'll do • Set the power-systems methodology behind capacity mapping and hosting-capacity analysis • Define the load-flow, short-circuit, contingency and stability checks the software must run • Validate AI outputs against traditional study results and sign off on accuracy • Lead and review the work of interconnection study and flexible-load engineers • Work with utility planning teams to agree data, assumptions and study criteria • Represent the team in technical sessions with utilities and strategic partners • Contribute to patent filings and technical white papers What you bring • 10+ years in transmission or distribution planning, interconnection or grid studies • Expert use of PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar • Deep knowledge of steady-state, contingency and dynamic analysis • Experience with large-load or generator interconnection processes • Degree in electrical or power engineering; PE or chartered status preferred Nice to have • Experience with data-centre or industrial large-load connections • Exposure to Python scripting of study tools and automation • US ISO/RTO or utility interconnection experience What we offer • Remote-first, flexible hours • Direct mentorship from a founder • Real ownership: your work goes live on a utility grid in our first pilot How to apply Send your CV or portfolio, and a short note on the most complex interconnection study you have led, to [email protected]. Subject line: Principal Power Systems Engineer.
