Technical Co-Founder, Wethos
About half-time to start | Equity-first | Flexible / remote
Build the future of independent work at AI speed
Wethos is looking for a Technical Co-Founder to join the three-person founding team leading the company’s next chapter.
We’ve already rebuilt the Wethos platform for AI-native, agentic software development, so there’s no technical turnaround to lead.
You’ll plug into a modern platform and development environment built so a small team can build, experiment, and ship far faster than a traditional software team. Your job is to make the most of it.
You’ll join a CEO / Co-Founder and a Marketing & Growth Co-Founder. Together, the three of you will rethink Wethos for the future of independent work and grow it from roughly 200 paying subscribers today to 20,000+.
You’re not starting from zero
Wethos already has a working product, paying customers, an established brand, an audience of tens of thousands of independent professionals, years of market learning, and a platform that has already been rebuilt for what comes next.
With that foundation in place, we need a cofounder who can use it to build fast: turning customer insight into product, testing hypotheses with real users, learning from what happens, and shipping again.
Build alongside an AI development expert
Wethos is owned by and operates within an established venture studio. As Technical Co-Founder, you’ll work closely with Brandon, the studio’s CTO and technical lead. Brandon is an expert in AI software development and in the agentic approach used to rebuild Wethos.
The development system already exists, so you won’t spend your first year inventing one or modernizing legacy infrastructure. You’ll step into the AI-native environment, learn to run it exceptionally well, and work with Brandon to push what it can do.
Over time, you’ll become Wethos’s technical owner, with continued access to the studio’s broader technical capabilities and expertise.
What you’ll own
You’ll be the technical builder on the founding team, turning customer problems, founder ideas, and growth insights into software quickly. That includes:
- Building and shipping new product capabilities at AI-native development speed
- Rapidly prototyping and testing product hypotheses with real customers
- Working with the CEO / Co-Founder to turn company and product vision into software
- Working directly with the Marketing & Growth Co-Founder to turn market and growth learning into product experiments
- Becoming deeply proficient in Wethos’s agentic development environment
- Using AI to rethink what the product can do, as well as to build it
- Making pragmatic technical and architecture decisions as Wethos evolves
- Maintaining quality, reliability, security, and scalability while moving quickly
- Owning Wethos’s technical direction as the company develops
- Eventually helping build and lead the Wethos engineering organization
Who we’re looking for
You might be a strong fit if you:
- Are an exceptional hands-on software builder
- Have shipped real software used by real customers
- Already use AI heavily in how you develop, or want to rebuild your development workflow around it
- Get excited that much faster development changes how a startup itself should operate
- Have strong product instincts and care more about solving customer problems than checking off technical requirements
- Love rapid experimentation and short build-measure-learn cycles
- Can work directly with founders, customers, and growth leaders
- Are curious about AI, SaaS, fintech, marketplaces, and the future of independent work
- Want to own the company and the product along with the code
- Want meaningful equity in what you build
You don’t need to have been a CTO before. We’re looking for an unusually capable builder with entrepreneurial ambition, strong product instincts, and the desire to become a technical founder.
A different kind of technical founder role
The role starts at about half-time, with real flexibility in when and how you work. We’re intentionally open to people whose lives don’t fit the conventional startup-founder template.
You might currently consult or build independently. You might have family commitments. You might be an experienced engineer who has wanted to found a company but hasn’t wanted to start completely alone.
We care about what you build and the ownership you take, and we don’t count hours at a desk. The role and time commitment can grow with the company.
Compensation & ownership
This is an equity-first co-founder role. At the company’s current stage, it comes with limited or possibly no cash compensation.
We use a dynamic equity model. You earn your equity over time, in step with the value you help build, with the opportunity to reach meaningful founder-level ownership.
Your work also earns you equity in the other ventures the studio works on, alongside your stake in Wethos. Fairness in equity is part of our culture and who we are, and the studio is built to directly reward the teams that build value.
We intend to raise more capital as Wethos develops and add cash compensation when the company can support it. Neither financing nor future cash compensation is guaranteed. Your share will reflect your contribution, experience, commitment, and role, and the makeup of the final founding team.
Why this opportunity is different
Most technical founders spend their first year building infrastructure, assembling a development environment, creating an initial product, and trying to find their first users. You don’t have to.
The platform has been rebuilt, and the AI-native development environment exists. You’ll have real customers, a real audience, an established brand, two complementary co-founders, venture-studio resources, and an experienced AI development leader alongside you.
We want you to help find out what a company can become when it builds and learns this quickly.
