Technical Co-Founder / Founding Product Engineer — Vertical SaaS | Equity Only
Boldteq Global Technical Co-Founder / Founding Product Engineer — Vertical SaaS | Equity Only
Compensation: 5.0% – 20.0%
Building the operating system for modern tattoo studios.
I'm building Limespun, a vertical SaaS platform designed specifically for tattoo studios, studio owners, and tattoo artists.
Our goal is ambitious but simple:
Give a tattoo studio one beautifully designed system to run almost its entire business.
From bookings and client management to artists, multiple locations, daily operations, workflows, studio management, compliance, communication, reporting, and eventually much more.
We're initially focused on the US, UK and other English-speaking markets, with the ambition to build a serious global vertical SaaS company.
The product is already actively being built — this is not just an idea looking for someone to create an MVP.
Now I'm looking for a technical co-founder who wants to build the company with me.
Important: This Is a Co-Founder Role
This is not a salaried engineering position.
This is currently a 100% equity-based opportunity.
There is no salary at this stage.
I'm looking for someone who genuinely wants to own part of a company, take a long-term bet on what we're building, and create something valuable together.
Meaningful co-founder equity will be offered based on:
- Experience
- Technical ability
- Level of commitment
- Responsibility
- Long-term involvement
- Overall founder fit
Standard founder vesting would be part of the structure.
If you're primarily looking for freelance work, consulting income, or an immediate salary, this won't be the right opportunity.
What You'd Build With Me
You would become the technical counterpart to me as founder.
You'll have genuine influence over:
- Product architecture
- Backend and frontend engineering
- Database architecture
- APIs and integrations
- Infrastructure
- Security and scalability
- Engineering quality
- AI-assisted development
- Technical product decisions
- Developer tooling and automation
- Future engineering hiring
- Technical roadmap decisions
The current stack includes technologies such as Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase/Postgres and modern cloud infrastructure.
I'm already using AI heavily to accelerate product development.
I don't need someone who is against AI-assisted development.
I want someone who understands how to use AI as an engineering multiplier while still having the technical depth to know when the AI is wrong.
Someone who can architect, review, debug, simplify and make good engineering decisions rather than blindly accepting generated code.
You Won't Only Be Coding
This part is important.
Limespun is a vertical SaaS product.
To build an exceptional vertical SaaS company, we need to understand tattoo studio owners extremely deeply.
I want my technical co-founder to occasionally be comfortable speaking directly with customers.
That could include:
- Customer discovery calls
- Product feedback sessions
- Product demos
- Understanding workflow problems
- Discussing technical/product questions
- Helping during onboarding when necessary
- Seeing first-hand how customers actually use what we've built
You do not need to be a salesperson.
But I don't want a technical founder who hides behind tickets and never wants to speak with users.
I want us both to understand our customers.
What I'll Own
I don't expect you to do everything.
I'll primarily take responsibility for:
- Company operations
- Product vision
- Product strategy
- Roadmap
- Prioritization
- Customer feedback management
- Critical product thinking
- UX/product direction
- Business decisions
- Team coordination
- Go-to-market development
- Partnerships and growth as we scale
We'll make important company and product decisions together.
I want this to feel like two founders building one company, not a founder giving tasks to a developer.
The Person I'm Looking For
Technical skill matters.
But founder compatibility matters just as much.
I'm looking for someone who is:
Highly curious You naturally explore problems instead of waiting for instructions.
Product-minded You think about users and outcomes, not only code.
Low ego You're comfortable challenging ideas and equally comfortable changing your mind when someone else has a better answer.
Mature Startups have problems. I want someone who discusses them calmly instead of creating unnecessary drama.
Open-minded We're going to experiment, learn, fail occasionally and change things quickly.
Friendly and easy to work with We're potentially going to spend years building together. I genuinely care that we enjoy working with each other.
Independent You can turn an unclear product problem into a technical solution without needing a detailed specification for everything.
Reliable If we agree to something, I should be able to trust that it'll happen — and the same should be true for you with me.
Customer-friendly You're comfortable communicating clearly with non-technical people.
Excited about ownership You want to say, "We're building this," rather than "I'm working for this startup."
Technical Background I'd Love
You don't need to match every item.
Strong experience with some combination of:
- TypeScript / JavaScript
- React / Next.js
- Node.js
- PostgreSQL
- Supabase or similar platforms
- SaaS architecture
- Multi-tenant applications
- Authentication and authorization
- APIs and third-party integrations
- Payments/subscriptions
- Cloud infrastructure
- Security
- Testing and CI/CD
- AI-assisted software development
Experience building a SaaS product from 0 → production → real users is much more interesting to me than simply having a long list of technologies on your résumé.
Bonus if you've previously:
- Built your own startup
- Been a founding engineer
- Built B2B SaaS
- Worked on vertical SaaS
- Worked with scheduling/booking systems
- Built multi-location or multi-tenant products
- Spoken directly with SaaS customers
- Managed or mentored engineers
What I Don't Care Much About
I don't care much about:
- Fancy titles
- Big-company logos
- Perfect degrees
- Whether you went to a famous university
- Whether your résumé looks impressive
I'd rather meet someone who has quietly built three excellent products than someone who spent years in meetings at a famous company.
Show me what you've built.
Probably Not a Fit If…
You're looking for an immediate salary.
You see this mainly as a side freelance project.
You only want to receive tickets and write code.
You don't like talking to customers.
You need every requirement fully documented before starting.
You aren't comfortable with uncertainty.
You want a CTO title but don't want to be hands-on.
Or you're mainly attracted by the word "co-founder" rather than the work required to build a company.
Commitment
I'm looking for someone interested in a serious, long-term founder relationship.
I'm open-minded about whether we begin part-time or full-time depending on your current situation.
What matters much more is consistency, ownership and our ability to gradually build Limespun together.
If you only have a few random hours available occasionally, however, this probably isn't the right fit.
About Me
I'm an open-minded, friendly and product-focused founder.
I care deeply about building products properly, understanding why we're building something, questioning assumptions and continuously improving.
I don't want a formal founder relationship where we're afraid to disagree with each other.
I'd rather build with someone where we can say:
"I think you're wrong — here's why."
Discuss it.
Make the best decision.
And move forward without ego.
I want a co-founder relationship that is ambitious, transparent, calm and genuinely enjoyable.
Building a startup is already difficult.
The people you're building it with shouldn't make it harder.
Why Limespun?
Tattoo studios are fascinating businesses.
They combine:
- Artists
- Appointments
- Customers
- Deposits
- Scheduling
- Multiple employees
- Studio operations
- Inventory
- Communication
- Compliance
- Customer experience
- Repeat business
- Multiple locations
- Business analytics
Yet many studios still operate across fragmented tools, manual workflows and generic software that wasn't designed around how tattoo studios actually work.
We believe there's an opportunity to build a deeply vertical product that tattoo professionals genuinely love using every day.
Our goal isn't to build another generic booking tool.
We want Limespun to become the operating system for tattoo businesses.
And if we execute well, the same foundation can create opportunities far beyond the initial market.
How to Apply
Please don't send me a generic AI-generated cover letter.
I'd much rather receive a short, genuine message answering these:
1. What is the best product you've personally built? Send a link, GitHub, demo or screenshots if possible.
2. What part did you personally build?
3. Have you ever taken a product from idea to real production users?
4. Are you comfortable with an equity-only co-founder position at this stage?
5. Roughly how much time could you consistently commit?
6. What's your timezone/location?
7. Are you comfortable occasionally talking directly with customers in the US/UK?
8. Why does building a vertical SaaS company interest you?
And finally:
Tell me something you strongly disagree with about how most startups build software today.
I'm particularly interested in that answer.
If there's alignment, we'll start with conversations and some working sessions together before making any major commitment.
I care much more about finding the right person than finding someone quickly.
If you're technical, entrepreneurial, calm, curious and have been waiting for the right product to genuinely help build and own:
I'd love to talk.
